Privacy.
CtrlPons has no account, no tracking and no server of its own that keeps anything about you. Screenshots are read on your device. To look a coin up, only the ticker, name or address goes out, to the public sources listed here.
Last updated September 25, 2026. This covers the website, the app at ctrlpons.app/app and the CtrlPons browser extension.
Your screenshots
When you paste, drop or share an image, the app reads it inside your browser with Tesseract, an open-source text reader. The image is never uploaded. The reader itself is downloaded once from jsDelivr, a public code host, and runs locally.
What goes out to look a coin up
The tickers, coin names and contract addresses read from your screenshot, typed in the bar, or found on a page are sent to public sources to find the coin:
- Pons (api.ponsfamily.com and ponsfamily.com): coins, prices, trades and logos.
- HoodScan (hoodscan.co): tokenized stocks, and the swaps of a wallet address you look up.
- Robinhood Chain public node (rpc.mainnet.chain.robinhood.com): whether an address has ever been used.
- Financial Modeling Prep (financialmodelingprep.com): stock logos.
Nothing else is attached: no name, no email, no wallet connection, no browsing history. Each source has its own privacy terms and sees your IP address like any website does.
What stays in your browser
Your receipts (the coins you saved) are kept in your browser's local storage, on your device only. Clear your site data and they are gone. There are no cookies, no analytics and no ads.
The browser extension
- Where it reads. On X, Telegram Web, Discord, Reddit, DexScreener, GMGN and HoodScan, it scans the text of the page for $tickers and contract addresses to place its chips. On any other page, only when you ask: the popup button or Alt+Shift+O.
- What it sends. Only those tickers and addresses, to Pons and HoodScan, to know whether they trade and to fill the card you open.
- Images you right-click. The image is fetched, or cut from a capture of the visible tab when the site blocks that, then handed to the CtrlPons app in a new tab through the browser's session storage. It is read on your device and deleted from that storage as soon as the app picks it up.
- Clipboard. Read only when you press Paste in the popup.
- Never. It does not collect, sell or share your data, does not read your wallets or passwords, and does not run code from the internet.
Hosting
The website is hosted on Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, pages requested) for security and operations.
